5 Green Trends to Watch in Skin Care

Over the past few years, consumers have become more and more concerned with eco-friendly or green products. Whether it’s moving away from fast fashion or boycotting plastic straws, the environmental impact of products is on everyone’s mind. The skin care industry is no exception.

With Earth Day just around the corner, we thought today would be perfect to share our favorite green skin care trends to watch.

We’ve always believed that small steps can lead to big changes. That means less boxes and more recyclable materials.

Banning Microbeads
Microbeads or the plastic particles brands use as a scrubbing agent, have been shown to be especially damaging for the environment. Although they were all the rage in the late 90s and early 2000s, they caused so much damage to our oceans that a ban was introduced in 2015. Ever since then, many brands are switching to more natural ingredients. Our Papaya Scrub, for instance, is made from diatomaceous earth which a natural exfoliant.

Using Recycled Packaging
With the EPA reporting that the average American creates 4.4 pounds of trash a day, brands are now innovating ways to reduce packaging. Just recently Pamela Metamorphosis took a pledge to switch to more recyclable packaging. While many brands package their products individually, Pamela Metamorphosis decided there was no sense in creating excess waste. We’ve always believed that small steps can lead to big changes. That means less boxes and more recyclable materials.

Focusing On Clean Products
We are becoming more aware of what we put into our bodies. The same thing goes for our skin. People want their products to be clean and safe for their skin. A key point here is to use products with biocompatible ingredients. People will start avoiding products with parabens, phthalates, toxins, and synthetic colors. We predict clean skin care is a trend that will stay.

Tea Infused Products
Brands are finally spilling the tea on tea-infused products. Tea has always been a favorite when it comes to effective natural ingredients. From hydration to exfoliation, tea has so many different benefits for our skin. With green skin care finally on the forefront, tea-infused products will show up more. Just think of our Green Tea Moisturizer. So are you ready to host a tea party? It looks like tea based products are going to become a huge part of your daily skin care routine.

Pollution Fighting
